Youth
Our youth group meets after church on the 3rd Sundays of the month. This is a time of connecting with one another and growing together - having fun and talking about things that matter.
Gatherings typically include sharing a meal (hosted by a family from the congregation), playing games, and having a short devotion together.
They are a safe place to ask big questions and to explore different ideas. We are all learners on the journey, so we try to listen generously, share openly, and acknowledge what we’re still learning about.
In addition to discussing the basics of our Christian faith, conversations also dive deeper into topics like how following Jesus makes a difference when it comes to calling and vocation, relationships, racism, environmental stewardship, forgiveness and reconciliation, equity and equality, and systems of government (power, politics, authority).
Besides big conversations, you’ll also find us doing a lot of playing, laughing, and snacking!
Youth on Sunday Mornings
When youth transition from elementary school to high school, Marineview celebrates the occasion by praying for them and officially welcoming them into the worship service with the adults. Youth are invited to participate in all aspects of the service.
Youth can develop their gifts and be involved in facilitating our gatherings in various ways. Some assist with worship slides, volunteer with the younger children’s programs, sing or play on the music team, do behind-the-scenes audio and video tech for different events, or read Scripture.
On Potluck Lunch Sundays - the first Sunday of the month when we reflect on Scripture in small groups - some youth also choose to form their own discussion group.
In the summer, many of our youth attend camp on Anvil Island as campers and / or as volunteers - a great place to grow in their faith and make life-long friends and memories.
